"Tiner, is the Admiral in?" Mac asked as she walked up in front of Tiner's desk.

"Yes, Ma'am. I will ask him if he is free."

Not even a minute later, Mac walked into her CO's office. She stood at attention until AJ gestured for her to sit down.

"What can I do for you, Colonel?" he asked, leaning back in his chair and placing his hands in his lap.

"I want to request a couple of vacation days, Sir. Chloe is coming down to DC for summer vacation, and it wouldn't be fair to her to work all the time she is here."

"About how many days are we talking here?"

"12, sir."

"Beginning when?"

"She's arriving Thursday, sir."

AJ leaned over his desk and looked down on the calendar in front of him.

"Well, Colonel, Lieutenants Roberts and Sims requested three days off the next week as well. I am sorry, but I can't give you those days off. We are short handed already."

"Yessir, I understand, sir."

"I can give you Thursday and Friday this week and next week and the whole week after."

"Thank you, Admiral, that will have to do."

Mac stood, saluted her CO and left the office.

"MAC!" Chloe screamed and flunged herself into Mac's awaiting arms. "I am so glad I am here!"

"Me too, Chlo, me too."

Mac picked up Chloe's hand, and they started walking off to get Chloe's baggage.

"Ew, gross, you're still wearing that?" the teenage girl suddenly exclaimed, pointing at the ring on Mac's right hand.

"Yes, I do. Mic reserved his commission and moved to DC, you know."

"He moved to DC? What about Harm?"

"Chloe!!" Mac exclaimed seriously, nevertheless a light smile was playing on her lips.

"As long as you didn't say yes, there's still hope, right? You didn't say yes, did you?"

Mac shook her head, "No, I didn't."

"Heck, I haven't seen a woman who has to think almost 5 months about whether she is going to marry the man proposing to her or not. There's only one reason you didn't say yes yet. There's someone else you love!"

"Chlo, how often do I have to tell you that Harm and I are only good friends."

"Yeah, right, you are trying to kid the wrong person here, Mac. I can sense something like that. It's a woman's thing. You," Chloe gently nudged Mac in her side, "are madly in love with Mr. Hotshot Naval Aviator. And don't start with those damn office rules that you can't get involved. There are Bud and Harriet, and I watch a lot of TV, so I know how people can get around that."

"This is more complicated than you might think, Ms. Madison. Harm is dating Renee."

"Mysterious Renee I yet have to meet. So when did that start out? After you went to Sydney and confused that poor guy completely?"

"I did not confuse him!"

"Sure you did. See, there is this woman telling him to let go, and the next day she shows up with some sort of engagement ring on her finger. Who wouldn't throw that off, huh?"

"Chloe, exactly how old are you? 50?" Mac chuckled.

"No, just 12. But I know a lot about this stuff you know."

"I see. C'mon, let's get your stuff and get going."

Mac woke up to the sound of shattering glass.

"Chloe?" she called, picked up her robe from the chair next to the bed and left the bedroom. "What's this smell?"

"I got everything under control, don't worry." the girl called back from the kitchen.

Mac started to giggle when she entered the kitchen. At the stove, there was Chloe standing, a pan in her hand, trying to make...

"Pancakes?"

"My grandma showed me how to do it."

"And what is that?"

Mac pointed at a shattered glass on the floor.

"Jingo, not my fault. He got too nosy. I was just going to pick it up."

"Let me get that. You take care of those pancakes. They smell great."

"Grandma's secret recipe. Do you want me to make them Dinosaur shape like Harm uses to do?"

Mac started to giggle. Suddenly, the two of them were interrupted by a knock at the door. Mac put the remains of the shattered glass in the dust bin, and was off to answer the door, but Chloe was faster. Expecting to see Harm, she was a bit disappointed to see Mic.

"Oh, hi Mic." she greeted him, not sounding very pleased about his visit.

"Hi Chloe. How are you? Where is Sarah?"

"I am fine, thank you. And Mac is in the kitchen."

Mic pushed past Chloe towards the kitchen. Silently, Chloe slowly counted to 20 before she entered the kitchen. The last thing she needed that morning was to see Mic kissing Mac.

"This is gross, guys!" she exclaimed, when she saw that they were still doing that. "Know what? I'll take Jingo out for a walk."

"Hey Chlo, what about the breakfast you made?" Mac asked, feeling Chloe's discomfort with Mic being there.

"It was just enough for two, not three. Help yourself. Jingo, come here old boy."

The dog came running to Chloe, looking up at her with his tongue sticking out of his mouth. Chloe patted the dog's head and he followed her willingly to the living room.

"Chloe!" Mac called after her and joined her in the living room. "Please, I know you don't like Mic very much, but couldn't you be at least a little nice to him?"

"I don't understand you, Mac." Chloe started as she put on her shoes. "You don't even love him. If all you need is company, why not look out for some cheap one night stand? Would be a lot better than having Mic Brumby around."

"CHLOE MADISON!"

Chloe didn't respond to Mac, not verbally, not physically. She picked up Jingo's leash from the table and ushered the dog out of the apartment.

"You are not the Mac I used to know anymore." Chloe shot at her and smashed the door closed in its angles.

Chloe sat on a bench near Georgetown Canal and watched Jingo playing in the grass. She had screwed up big time, she knew that. But why on earth did Mic Brumby have to come along? Maybe he wasn't that bad of a guy, but he was just not the right choice for Mac. Harm, he was the best for Mac.

"Hi." a voice suddenly said and Chloe looked up into the face of a girl her age. "Is that spot taken?"

Chloe shook her head no, and the girl sat down on the bench next to her.

"You don't come here very often, do you? I haven't seen you here before."

"A friend of mine lives two blocks down that way. I am just taking her dog out for a walk. I don't live in DC anymore, I am just here visiting her."

"Hey, I live down two blocks that way as well. By the way, I am Celia."

"Chloe."

The two girls shook hands.

"Got in a fight with your friend?"

"How do you know?"

"You look the way I feel. I got in a fight with my mom this morning. Sometimes, I never want to grow up and become like my parents. Just stay a kid, life's a lot easier. No adult problems at all."

"Who are you telling this?" Chloe sighed. "My friend is dating a total loser. And he's not even the guy she's in love with."

"My mom is cheating on my dad. Total loser that guy. Not my dad, the other one. My dad's out of town a lot of times 'cause of his business. I thought it was all over when this stupid ass moved back home a couple of months ago. And suddenly, three weeks ago, he's back in DC. And hell, my mom is stupid enough to fall for that loser again. I can't understand why."

"Why don't you tell your dad?"

"I tried, but he won't listen. And you know the best? I have a little baby brother that does not look like my dad at all. He looks a lot more like... him."

"Look, I gotta go back. Mac is probably worrying about me. Jingo!"

Jingo looked up at the sound of his name and came running over to the bench.

"Do you mind if I join you?"

"Not, not at all. I don't know anyone around here. How old are you, Celia?"

"12, and you?"

"12." Chloe chuckled.

The two teenagers walked off, talking about what teenagers usually talk about. About 10 minutes later, they stopped in front of the apartment building Mac lived in.

"Your friend lives here?" Celia asked astonished.

"Yeah, apartment 204. Where do you live?"

"Apartment 406! Who's your friend?"

"Lt. Col. Sarah Mackenzie. She's a Marine."

"Oh yeah, I think I've seen her before. She's a nice lady."

"She's great. Maybe we can get together again some time?"

"Sure. I know where you are."

"And I know where you are."

Chloe opened the door to Mac's apartment trying to make not too much noise. She ushered Jingo inside and closed the door, only to hear Mac walk up behind her.

"So, Ms. Madison, is there anything you have to say?"

"I am sorry." the girl replied and looked on the ground, a contrite look on her face.

Mac titled her chin up, "What is going on in your mind that you say such things to me?"

"I don't know. Maybe... do you really love Mic? I remember you once basically told me you love Harm. How can you love both at the same time?"

"Chloe, there are different kinds of love, I thought you knew that, wise girl. I love you different than I love Harm. And I love Harm different than I love Mic."

"How different?"

"What does how different mean? It's just different."

"How would you explain the difference between loving someone like a brother and loving someone like... a husband for that instance. I'd say you'd never think about french kissing your brother and having sex with him. And you sure don't think about Harm as your brother. So please, what's the difference? Isn't it just wishful thinking?"

"Chloe, sometimes I really ask myself where you got all that stuff from. A 12 year old shouldn't know anything about french kissing and having sex. You should be a nice little girl, playing with your dolls..."

"Playing with my dolls? Mac, please, what did you do when you were 12 years old? Sure didn't play with any dolls at all. I am too old to do that. 12 years old are a lot smarter than you might think, than anyone might think."

"That I can see."

"So, what's the difference in your love for Harm and Mic. Please explain."

Chloe just couldn't let go off that topic.

"If you want me to admit I love Harm like some sort of a husband, I won't, Chloe. Because I just don't."

"I think there must be some misunderstanding between your heart and your mind. I know the way you look at him. It's the way Harriet looks at Bud, and all other married couples and people in love do. I can sense these things. And I can honestly say that you just don't look that way at Mic - though he does look at you that way."

"Okay, case finished. I don't wanna talk about this anymore. Deal with it, Chlo, or don't. Just because you are seeing things here I won't stop dating Mic, understood?"

Chloe stood at attention and snapped off a mock salute, "Yes, Ma'am!"

Chloe had invited herself over for dinner at Harm's place. After all, she had told Harm that she wanted to meet Renee, and what would be better than having dinner together?

Harm was in the kitchen preparing dinner, when Renee let herself in. She was glowing all over her face.

"Honey, I have great news!" she called excitedly. "I got offered a new job!"

"A new job? Renee, that's great!"

Harm hugged her shortly before he turned back to preparing dinner.

"Isn't it?" Renee rambled on. "They want me to host a morning show in San Francisco. Can you tell I am really excited?"

"Wait a moment, did you just say San Francisco?"

"Yes, isn't this great? I know you will love California. It's just great there. And the weather is a lot better than in DC. We can move into a house with an ocean view, hear the waves breaking at the shore..."

"We? Renee, my place is here in DC. I don't wanna move to Frisco. What would you give an idea like that?"

"I thought we... I thought you'd be happy for me."

"I am Renee, I really am, but my job, my friends, they are here in DC."

"Oh, you mean she is here."

Harm finally placed the bottle of salad dressing he was holding in his hand aside and looked up at Renee.

"Who are you talking about?"

"Oh, you know who I am talking about, Harm."

"Mac? Oh, c'mon, I thought we were passed that stage. Mac is my partner and my friend."

"Then what keeps you here in DC? It sure is not me."

"No, it's not. It's my career, my job, my friends. That means a great deal to me. I can't just leave all that behind. I did once, and heck, that was the greatest mistake I ever made. I am not going to do that again."

"Harm, this is the chance I've been waiting for all my life!"

"I understand that. Renee, look, your job means a lot to you, and mine does to me. You are asking me to leave JAG here."

"You are a damn good lawyer, you will find a new job fast."

"Don't you understand? I don't want a new job. I don't want to be some filthy lawyer getting 200 bucks an hour. Sure, it sounds tempting, but that's not me. I am a Naval officer, that is what I am and who I am."

"A Naval officer, tsk. Harm, you can make an even better career outside of JAG. In San Francisco, living with me. Don't you want to be together with me anymore? Don't you love me anymore?"

"Renee," Harm gathered her into his arms, "I do want to be together with you, but this is not the way it works."

"You want me to reject this offer, giving up my career?"

"That's exactly what you want me to do. Maybe..."

"Maybe what?"

"Maybe it isn't such a bad idea we both take a break, and you go to Frisco."

"Pardon me? You didn't just say that."

"Yes, I did. And I meant it."

Outside on the hallway. Mac and Chloe were walking down the hallway towards Harm's apartment

"Why don't you come in with me?" Chloe asked, tugging at Mac's hand.

"He didn't invite me over for dinner, he invited you."

"Hey, you go where I go, all right?"

"Harm may not want to..."

"Harm may not want what?" Harm cut in from the door to his apartment. Apparently, he had heard the two of them talking in the hallway.

"Uhm, nothing important. Chloe, you call when you want me to pick you up, okay?"

"You are not staying for dinner?" Harm asked astonished. "Please, Mac, stay."

"No, I don't want to..."

"Nonsense. When I invited Chloe, it included you. Do you want me to beg on my knees?"

"Oh, I guess it sure would be a great sight seeing you begging on your knees." Mac teased.

Harm grimaced and closed the door after Mac and Chloe. Mac immediately felt the air was really tense. She glanced over at Harm, who gave her a look of 'don't ask'.

"You must be Renee, right?" Chloe inquired and extended her hand in Renee's direction.

"And you may be?" Renee asked back, shaking Chloe's hand.

"Sorry, I forgot to tell you, Renee. This is Chloe, Mac's 'little sister'. Mac and Chloe are keeping us company tonight."

"Little sister? I didn't know you had family, Mac."

"Mac is just my 'big sister', not my real sister." Chloe explained. " Do I have to explain to you what the 'big sister' program is?"

"No, thank you, dear. I know what that is."

"Chloe, will you help Renee set the table? Mac, I could need a helping hand with the lasagna."

Mac joined Harm in the kitchenette. It was Harm's way to let her know that he needed to talk to her - without Renee and Chloe listening.

"So, what's up, sailor?" Mac asked and watched Harm getting the lasagna out of the oven.

"Renee was offered a new job in San Francisco. She wants me to move to California with her."

"And?"

"And what? "

"Will you go to California with Renee?"

Suddenly, Mac's voice sounded unsure, almost frightened. Was Harm considering leaving her behind once again?

"Why should I?" Harm uttered, shrugging his shoulders. He handed her the salad bowl.

"Why? I thought you loved her." Mac reasoned.

"My job is here in DC. I made the mistake once and left JAG. How could I do that again? Besides, what is waiting for me in Frisco? Nothing."

"Renee is, Harm. What is keeping you in DC?"

"Everything! My job, my friends... my life, Mac. My best friend."

"No, don't let me be the reason for you staying."

Harm shook his head, "You are not the only reason, Mac. There's AJ, my godson, our godson. Bud and Harriet. My grandma Sarah. My plane, everything. Memories. My dad is here, every time I visit the Vietnam Memorial. My place is here, at JAG."

"And Renee?"

"She's forcing me to choose between my life and her. That's something I can't. For nobody in this world I would make such a decision."

"Not even for love?"

Chloe knocked at the door of apartment 406. Since Mac was at work today, she had asked Celia if she wanted to spend the day with her.

"Hey Chloe!" Celia uttered and let Chloe in. "Let's go to my room. Mom's in the kitchen with him."

The two girls retreated to Celia's room.

"Wow, you got a computer! I won't get one. My folks think I am still too young."

"My dad got it for me for my birthday." Celia said and turned it on. "I even have internet access and email. I am just not allowed to tell my mom or she will take it away from me. Dad sends me email every day when he is gone."

"Kewl. You got some games on it?"

"Sure I do. What about this?"

Celia picked up a pink CD-Rom case and showed it to Chloe.

"You can make jewelry on your computer?"

"It's real easy. You design it on the computer and then put some special paper in it. Cut it out, glue it together, whatever. It's really great! You can make great bracelets with it."

Not even 10 minutes later - the girls were still engrossed in designing their own jewelry - they heard Celia's mom calling for them.

"Celia, Mic and I are going out. Take care of Andrew please."

"Yes, mom!" Celia called back, rolling her eyes heavenward. "Andrew is a monster. Only 3 months old, but a little creepy monster."

"What is your mom's friend called? Mic?" Chloe asked, sipping on a glass of orange juice.

"Yeah, Lt. Cmdr. Michael Brumby, Royal Australian Navy. Smart ass!"

Chloe joked on her juice and accidentally spit it on the carpeted floor.

"Holy shit! Your mom is cheating on your dad with Bugme?"

"How do you know I call him Bugme?"

"He asked Mac to marry him 5 months ago! They were working together."

"Are we talking about the same guy here? Mic Brumby, looking like he was inflated like a balloon?"

"Sounds like the same guy. Wait, Mac has some photos down in her apartment. Wanna see them?"

Celia nodded, "You bet I do! Let me get Andy first."

5 minutes later, Chloe and Celia were seated on the couch in Mac's apartment, going through a stack of unsorted pictures Mac kept in a shoe box.

"No, that is not Mic." Celia said and picked up a picture of Mac and Harm.

"Nah, that is Harm, the guy Mac really loves. This," Chloe handed a photo over to Celia, "this is Bugme. Don't know why she likes that guy though."

Celia gasped at the sight of the picture. It sure was the same guy her mother was having an affair with.

"I always knew he was slime."

"That he is. And now look at Andy. Doesn't he look like Mic all over? My dad's blond, tall, light skin, blue eyes. How comes Andy has pitch black hair, a fairly dark skin and brown eyes? None of us has brown eyes, not even my mom! And none of us has dark hair, we are all blond."

Suddenly, a devilish smile broke out on Chloe's face, "Hey, do you want to get rid of Bugme?"

"Always! What's your plan?"

"Let me explain."

Mac and Chloe sat at the table, eating dinner. Mac had picked up burgers at Beltway Burgers on her way back, and - unlike some other person Mac knew - Chloe seemed to like it.

"Mac, can I ask Celia and her mom over for dinner tomorrow?" Chloe asked, stuffing a frie into her mouth.

"Sure, why not? You and Celia seem to get a long pretty well."

"We sure do. We have a lot of things in common."

"You do? What things?"

"Hmm..." Chloe rubbed the back of her head, "we are both 12 years old, we are both very smart, we both think Michael T. Weiss is the sexiest man alive [don't bash me for that! This is just for my sis who really thinks that way!], and we both could die for Rocky Road ice cream."

"I see. So how does 7 sound? Do you think Celia and her mom would be okay with that?"

"Sure. But you have to get home from work a little earlier if you want to make that 7 o'clock dinner. Or do you want me to cook?"

"How about I leave work half an hour earlier and be here by six, and you get to do the grocery shopping tomorrow afternoon. Deal?"

"Deal." Chloe stuffed another frie in her mouth. "And do you want to ask Mic to come over?"

"Why do you ask?" Mac asked astonished. This was sure not something she had thought Chloe would ask.

"I feel a little bad about Friday. And you haven't seen him since then."

"I will call and ask him if you really think it's okay."

"Yeah, it's fine with me. And I think it will also be fine with Celia and her mom."

" You look a little depressed, Commander. Love sick?" Mac teased upon entering Harm's office and placed the files she was carrying on his desk.

"Renee left for California yesterday. It's over."

"Sorry, Harm. I should have guessed."

"No, it's okay. From the beginning she just assumed I would go with her. Maybe I would have gone with her if she had asked me before she decided on her own that I had to follow her. I don't know."

"No chance of working things out?"

Harm shook his head, "I don't think so. She's stubborn and hard headed - like another woman I know."

Mac rolled her eyes heavenwards, "Look, I am really sorry that things didn't work out with Renee. After all, you two looked really cute together."

"Cute? I thought you didn't like her that much."

"Yeah, but she sort of made you happy, Harm. I need to give her credit for that."

"What about you and Brumby?" Harm suddenly changed the subject. "I see you still wear that ring on your right hand. You didn't give him an answer yet?"

"No, and I don't think it's any of your business, Commander."

"No, but as your friend, I am worried about you. Putting it off won't make it any easier, it just will make it harder. Either tell him no or yes, but not maybe."

"You're sounding like Chloe. The only difference between you two is that she left out that 'or yes' part."

"She told me she doesn't like Mic that much. I wonder where she got that from."

A wide grin broke out on Harm's face.

"She just will have to deal with what will happen. And so do you."

Mac turned on her heels and left Harm's office.

Chloe hovered over a book, watching Mac and Mic setting the table out of the corner of her eyes. This plan was perfect! It just had to work. She had asked Mac not to tell Mic who was coming over for dinner, otherwise he sure wouldn't have shown up. His suspicions went from Harm and Renee over Bud and Harriet to AJ and Sydney. Boy, was he wrong!

Outside on the hallway, Celia and her mom were exiting the elevator.

"Are you sure we are not butting in on anything, Celia?" her mother asked and changed Andrew's carrier to the other side.

"No, mom, how often do you have to ask? Chloe and Mac said it was all right. Chloe wants to introduce me to her friend's almost fiance."

"What is an almost fiance?"

"Well, he proposed to her 5 months ago." Celia intentionally stressed the words '5 months ago'. "She didn't give him an answer yet. Chloe says he's slime."

Celia knocked at the door, which was immediately opened by Chloe.

"Hey Chlo, are we late?"

"No, no, come in. Mac, they are here!"

Chloe closed the door behind Celia and her mom. A grin broke out on both girl's faces when Mic looked up from the table and his jaw almost hit the floor.

"Mic?" Celia's mom exclaimed.

Mic swallowed hard and shrugged his shoulders when he felt Mac staring at him.

"Yeah, well, I think you two know each other." Celia butt in. "Mom, Mic is the Colonel's almost fiance."

"You know each other?" Mac inquired, giving Mic a look.

"He's having an affair with Celia's mom, Mac."

"You have WHAT?" Mac cried. "Mic Brumby, you propose to me though you have an affair with a married woman?"

"Oh, and may I say, he also has a son?" Celia indicated her baby brother. "Andrew Brumby, sounds..."

"CELIA!" her mother and Mic screamed at the same time to silence her.

"You are cheating on me?"

"Hell, I was just looking for something you wouldn't or couldn't give me, Sarah."

"Get out of here, Mic." Mac pointed at the door. "Get out of here and my life, you hear me?"

Mic showed no signs or moving. He just glanced back and forth between Mac and Celia's mother.

"NOW! Are you going willingly or do I have to make you go? GET YOUR SIX OUT OF HERE NOW!"

"Fine, FINE! But don't come crawling back to me when you are sorry for what you just said."

Mic turned to the door. He opened it, and turned back to Mac one last time. That was when something small and sharp hit him right between his eyes - the ring he had given Mac in Sydney. He picked it up from the floor and left the apartment, Celia's mother in tow.

"YES!" the two girls rejoiced, giving each other a high five.

"So, you knew about this?" Mac asked sternly and walked up next to the girls.

"Sorry, Mac, but you wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"Celia, how long is this thing between your mom and Mic going on?"

"A year and a half, Ma'am. I thought it was finally over when he went back to Australia. I never knew he had another woman beside my mom. It is bad enough my mom is cheating on my dad, they shouldn't have dragged you into this as well."

Mac smiled at the girl, putting her hand on her shoulder, "It's okay. It is not your fault. Why don't you tell your father about it?"

"I tried, but he wouldn't believe me, Ma'am. "

"Maybe you could talk to him, Mac. Please? For Celia."

"If Celia wants me to."

Celia nodded silently.

"C'mon girls, don't let this ass ruin our night. We have dinner in the oven. Let me get us something to drink and you sit down at the table."

Mac went off to the kitchen. Finally out of sight of the girls, she slumped down on the ground and began to cry. In the living room, it was no doubt to the girls that Mac was crying, they could hear her sobbing.

"Celia, if there's someone at the door, open it, okay? I'll go look after Mac."

Chloe sprung up from her chair and went to the kitchen. She sat down on the floor in front of Mac.

"I know it was not very nice what we did tonight." Chloe started, but Mac stopped her immediately.

"Chlo, this is a rather bad time for talking." she sniffed, brushing the tears away from her cheeks.

Chloe just nodded silently, but still remained where she was. Meanwhile, there was a knock at the door. Celia moved to open it.

"Hi!" she greeted the stranger. "I am Celia, Chloe's friend. You must be Harm."

"Ugh, yeah. Nice to meet you, Celia." Harm stepped into the apartment and looked around. "Where is everybody?"

"In the kitchen. Maybe you better go in and see what's going on."

Harm looked at Celia confused, but when he heard Mac's sobbing, he headed straight for the kitchen. There he found Mac and Chloe huddled on the floor.

"Mac!" he gasped and dropped down on the floor next to her, gathering her into his arms. "What happened?"

"Mic..." she choked on her words and once again broke out in tears.

Helplessly, he looked over at Chloe, who just shrugged her shoulders. This was something Mac needed to tell him herself. The girl got up and headed for the living room, leaving Mac and Harm alone.

"Mac, what happened with Mic?"

"He cheated on me!" she mumbled into his shoulder, tightening the embrace.

"I am so sorry, Mac."

As much as Harm wanted to talk bad mouthed about this son of a bitch at the moment, he felt that was the last thing Mac needed. She already felt bad enough. Mac slowly lifted her head from his shoulder and looked up at him with tear stricken eyes.

"Harm, what are you doing here?"

"Chloe invited me for dinner."

A light chuckle escaped Mac's lips, "Chloe, I should have guessed."

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Mac shook her head no. Harm put a comforting smile on his face and wiped the last tears out of the corners of her eyes.

"Why don't you go and freshen up a little? You have company tonight, remember?"

"Yeah, I sure do. Ah, I promised the girls to get us something to drink. Would you please get the soda out of the fridge and take it to the living room?"

Harm nodded and helped her up on her feet.

"Are you sure you are all right and don't wanna talk about it?"

"Maybe another time, but not tonight. It hurts, Harm, badly."

Harm just nodded and watched after Mac. Then he went to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of orange juice and one with water and carried them to the living room. Much to his surprise, no one was there. He placed the bottles down on the table, whistling to the music that someone had turned on. His eyes caught sight of a note Chloe had placed on the table. He picked it up and read it.

"Gone for a walk with Jingo, don't worry about us, we'll be back before dusk. Chloe and Celia."

Harm chuckled and placed the note back on the table when Mac emerged from the bathroom.

"Chloe and Celia took Jingo out for a walk." he said and indicated the note on the table. "Care to dance?"

"No, I don't think I am up to dancing right now."

"Please?"

Harm gave her his best pleading puppy dog look. Mac couldn't help but smile about it. She approached Harm, and a moment later, they were slowly dancing through the apartment. Her head rested casually against his chest, and his arm was firmly draped around her waist.

Mac began singing with the music, "I walk in shadows, searching for light. Cold and alone, no comfort in sight. Hoping and prayin´ for someone who care, always movin´ and goin´ nowhere."

Harm joined her when the chorus began, "What becomes of the broken hearted, who had love that´s now departed? I know I´ve got to find some kind of peace of mind. Help me, please."

"Did you pick that song?" he asked, nuzzling Mac's hair.

"I thought you did."

"Chloe!" they said in unison.

"What's she trying to prove?"

"I don't have an idea, Harm. Let's just enjoy this moment of peace, okay?" Mac joined the music again, "I know I´ve got to find some kind of peace of mind. I´ll be searching everywhere, just to find someone to care. I´ll be looking everyday I know I´ve got to find a way. Nothing´s gonna stop me now."
